The Challenge
In disaster-prone regions of Malawi, entire communities are repeatedly displaced by floods, cyclones, and crumbling infrastructure. Traditional mud and thatch homes collapse under pressure, leaving families exposed to the elements and in constant fear of losing everything. Rebuilding each year is not just unsustainable, it’s a costly cycle that drains hope and resources. Without safe housing, families cannot thrive.
Our Approach
We build flood-safe, earthquake-resilient shelters using bamboo and natural, affordable materials, promoting self reliance and income earning opportunities by training local residents to build these homes themselves.These homes are designed to withstand heavy rains, winds, and tremors. The breathable walls and stable foundations regulate indoor temperature, and minimise maintenance.
